The short documentary Postscriptum. Ruminations on My Craft by the Quay Brothers premiered at the 15th Hommage à Kieślowski Festival in Sokołowsko, in southern Poland. The screening was the central event of the Festival’s Opening Gala, held on 28 August, with the Quay Brothers in attendance.
Postscriptum… is a cinematic reflection on the life, creative path, and artistic choices of Krzysztof Kieślowski, made on the 30th anniversary of the filmmaker’s passing. This documentary impression weaves together memories, archival materials, excerpts from Kieślowski’s films, and the Quay Brothers’ signature animation into a tribute to the outstanding Polish director and his legacy.
The Quay Brothers were born in Pennsylvania where they studied at the Philadelphia College of Art and then later in London at the Royal College of Art. Filmmakers by choice, they have created a hybrid variety of short films, live-action features and documentaries. They have also designed decors for the Theatre, Opera and Ballet. In 2012 the QQs were the subject of a grand retrospective exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art, New York entitled Quay Brothers: On Deciphering the Pharmacist’s Prescription for Lip-Reading Puppets.
Postscriptum. Ruminations on My Craft was produced by Izabela Kiszka (IKH Pictures Production). The film was created in co‑production with the Polish Cultural Institute in London, the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, Wroclaw Feature Film Studio, Documentary and Feature Film Studios, the In Situ Contemporary Art Foundation, and Atelier Koninck QBFZ. The Film is co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland.
